The Inventory Specialist-Buyer is responsible for inventory control of the plant's consumable supplies (MRO) and spare parts. Sources spare parts and maintains positive vendor relations to ensure material is available as needed to sustain operations while concurrently managing storeroom transactions to control inventory costs. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting, accounts payable, and/or purchasing records.

  • Serve as the point of contact with material, service, and equipment vendors to order, receive, and ensure payment for parts/supplies and services. Manages courier deliveries and collections, tracks accordingly.
  • Processes all purchase orders. Reviews purchasing transactions for accuracy and completeness; verifies against appropriate documentation
  • Monitors purchase order delivery dates.
  • Sets up new vendors in ERP.
  • Receives, inventories, stores, and issues hand-tools, machine tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Reconciles bill of lading and inventory report discrepancies and problems.
  • Coordinates plant's physical inventory and reconciliation.
  • Sets up receipt routing to ensure that raw material purchased are routed to QA for review for compliance to specifications.
  • Maintains up-to-date list of inventories including critical spares; provides report(s) as requested.
  • Ensures materials are correct in JDE, received correctly, and stored in the proper location(s).
  • Monitors satellite storage locations throughout the plant, tracks use of supplies in each location. Delivers tools, supplies and or equipment to workers, manually or using a hand
  • Locates lost or misplaced tools and equipment
  • Communicates with management to identify shortages or other issues that may affect the ability to accomplish priorities.
  • Assists HR/Safety in conducting hand-tool safety training as well as monthly hand-tool audits.
  • Maintains Plant's Safety Data Sheets (SDS) books for new and current materials.
  • Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  2. Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  3. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to vendors or other employees of the organization.
  4. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  5. Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  6. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  7. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the scope of performing the essential functions and responsibilities of role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) preferred.
  2. Experience with ERP Software (Oracle JD Edwards) preferred.
