The Senior Division Operational Excellence Manager has overall responsibility for leading and driving Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence throughout the AMERICAN SpiralWeld Pipe Company Division (ASWP). The Senior Division Operational Excellence Manager trains, coaches and directly applies lean tools and principles to all business functions within ASWP's value streams. This leader will work with site leadership and cross functional teams to achieve significant improvements within safety, quality, inventory, delivery, and productivity at all ASWP locations.

  • Create, lead and manage all standardized CI activities across the division
  • Act as a change agent, systematically driving a CI culture
  • Facilitate strategy deployment and goal deployment across all site functions and multiple value streams, maintaining a site-wide lean roadmap aimed at meeting site business goals
  • Champion, measure, and report on site productivity savings to meet BSC goals
  • Train and lead kaizen and lean workshops to site leaders and associates, including VSM, daily management, standard work, problem solving, material flow, TPM, and 5S
  • Identify and provide actions on business opportunities for improvement
  • Enhance and implementation of Best Practices for the Organization
  • Form and lead site CI steering committees
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of an ongoing project funnel, being filled from all areas of the business
  • Facilitate the development of a healthy cross-functional group of qualified lean tool experts through execution of training Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies
  • Engage Subject Matter Experts (SME's) for specific tasks and manage their engagement with the project
  • Conduct huddles and meetings with production teams to gather information that feeds CI initiatives
  • Assist Capital Project Team with new plant start up, systems development and training
  • Assisting with Business Process Automation SCADA, MES, QMS, and SPC integrations

  • Provide decisive leadership and team facilitation in the face of adversity - define tasks clearly, identify and coordinate resources, and execute CI go-forward plan
  • Quickly identify barriers to progress and execute team plan for success in/out of specific events
  • Coordinate successful kaizen events with quantified success including assessment and effective sustainment of standard work

Project Management

  • Execute formulated or directed plans individually and through teams, must notably through coordinating and running successful kaizen events with quantified success
  • Manage own time and to formulate priorities to manage several tasks at once without local or frequent direction
  • Identify and plan to avoid potential barriers. Facilitate resolving barriers with sponsors.
  • Monitor cost, schedule and performance of projects and events. Evaluate and take remedial actions to achieve sustained success
  • Analyze and support the design of the value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, workflow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout

Train, coach, counsel, and facilitate

  • Identify training needs in partnership with operational management
  • Manage/Support need fulfilment
  • Design, develop and lead/facilitate group courses
  • Support individuals through coaching and counselling

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to lead and influence a team in making significant breakthrough improvement in an environment in which the CI leader has no formal authority.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical data into everyday language.
  • Effectively facilitate meetings, train associates, lead kaizen events, and execute plans
  • Constantly communicate successes and plan to the organization driving involvement and cultural transformation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  2. Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  3. Must be able to write detailed reports and correspondence.
  4. Must be able to speak effectively before groups of managers or employees of organization.
  5. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  6. Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  7. Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  8. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  9. Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of employees, both verbally and in writing.
  10. Must have knowledge of ERP systems, Advanced Excel Skills, and Word Processing software.
  11. Must be able to work well with others and perform duties professionally under pressure.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
